International Projector Corporation. AKA Simplex.
If you look, the woofs are a little farther apart, it's a smaller horn, and the back of the cab is tapered.
It's not any better, or IMHO, as good as, a 211.
This is just plain silly. It ain't worth anywhere near that.
Some people have more money than brains.
The seller may be back whining the buyer never paid.

Old Guy: Good call on the differnces.
I know that production Altec 211 cabinets weigh in about 350lbs each, what do people use/do with these type of huge speaker cabinets? You have to have a huge auditorium size living room for this stuff. How much did Altec charge for their 211s?
BTW: Current bid is $1850

Old Guy,
It is a pair, who knows where the final bid will end up but I'm sure it would cost more than a couple grand to get a pair of those made. Seems to me that the current bid price is not rediculous.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Old Guy: You're looking at it as just another speaker cab, but these cabs have the magic words "Altec" and "Simplex" on it. You are just too darn practical. There are no more of these cabinets to be officially made by either Altec or International Projector Corporation/Simplex. Somewhere in the world someone is jonsing for a set. To me they are just another bit of Altec curiosity.

I guess. There was a pair on Ebay 3 months ago went for $500.
If I was collecting Simplex, the W-bins are much better cabinets.
Collectors items are worth whatever someone will pay. Sometimes the quality is secondary. The Altecs are much better cabs than these.

I'm a newbie, what is so significant about these Altec IPC cabinets, looks like standard Altec 211A to me? What does IPC stand for?

So what is so significant about a standard, ordinary 1505 horn?
